From the get-go, Philip Roche has been passionate about environments and the benefits that well-curated surroundings have on life. As a design creative, landscaper, business and property owner, Philip and his company ROCHE.DESIGN offer professional property concierge and management services for premium clients wishing to seamlessly operationalize their homes.

Philip is a New Zealander and was a top botanical apprentice at the Wellington Botanical Gardens and the Otari Native Plant Museum. When he was 19 and still a student, he felt the tug of entrepreneurship and made his first foray into landscape design and contracting, developing one of New Zealand’s most-respected landscape design firms.

Philip was for 20 years co-owner with Grahame Hubbard of New York City’s #1 urban landscaping company Plant Specialists where he was Design Director and client service evangelist.

Their vision and passion helped make Plant Specialists the gold standard for the design, installation and maintenance of roof top gardens in New York, servicing clients including Microsoft, Ogilvy & Mather, Meryl Streep, Jon Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, the Ferragamo Family, the Queen of Qatar.

While Philip’s style is minimalist with clean lines, he readily puts aside personal preferences to marry the client with the design that best reflects their taste. The joy in his work, Philip says, comes from “seeing the transformation of an empty or ordinary space that doesn’t work or isn’t used as something the client loves and uses.” This passion has been recognized in Architectural Digest, Vogue, The New York Times, Landscape Architecture, New York Social Diary, Garden Design, NZ House & Garden, Fashion Quarterly, and Life & Leisure.

In 2018 Philip sold his partnership in Plant Specialists to further develop his landscape consulting and grow his property development and design. Philip’s business has evolved into a full-service property concierge in New York City, New Jersey, Palm Springs, and New Zealand, ROCHE.DESIGN.
